Training skills is a common-enough activity, especially when you are getting a position up to viability, that I agree that as much as possible the steps to do should be front page orders.
I agree that, if a position can be of a faction AND a religion, then the Imperials should allow temples in their cities/reserves.
There is a difference between divination and eavesdropping, but I don’t know if it is possible to reflect that in the game. It would require “fogging” whatever information the Ring player was trying to get, based on how well the player has developed divination abilities or has access to the Ring’s central source of wisdom. So a Ring player might ask about the strength of a certain city, and if they are not yet good at divining they might only learn something like “the walls are low and not well guarded, and people come and go as they please”; it would take divination smarts to learn that the walls are level 2 and that the garrison has X soldiers of Y skill level, or even get the full city report without having to visit the city.
Are you considering opening up the game with a limited map that the first 30 or whatever players know, with a ‘terra incognita” they can start to explore once their positions are up and running? I seem to remember one attempt at a restart, in which my position was the only player position for miles around.February 26, 2020 at 8:55 pm in reply to: Roll Call – list of names to establish who is present. #257
I’m Andrew Wetmore. I’ve played in a number of incarnations of Midgard, mainly as Ring or Imperial. Nice to see the game getting up on its feet again.February 23, 2020 at 3:08 pm in reply to: A perception change in how we view buildings within a city #172
…plus cleaning up the blood stains from those who resisted the change.
The section on contacting people describes the ancient system of sending file cards by mail. Is that what we will be doing, or will there be a digital postbox system accessed through a website?
I very much like being able to declare for a secular leadership and also adopt a religion. Makes much more sense than the old way.
Looking forward to this. I had a lot of fun some years ago building an app to simplify filling in the Midgard turn sheet, keeping track of options, points expended, and so on. Sounds like the new version will have something like that built in.
